 Emily Doherty #LifeInBag Interview Flatlay

Ok, your #LifeInBag flat lay exposé*. In 1 sentence, please explain.

If I need it in a day, it’s always in my bag … diary, laptop, modelling portfolio, glasses/sunglasses, phone, keys, various chargers, a pair of heels, makeup, workout clothes, headphones and of course, food!

Sparro is a testament to high flying females known for their love and dedication to work, and working out. But also…to the one who may have been known to arrive at the gym with her top on inside-out (or backwards – sometimes both). Sound familiar?

Definitely! Since putting my Speech Pathology career on hold and embarking on my entrepreneurial journey, my life is a bit of a circus but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Emily Doherty Workout

We love working out for many reasons, but mostly because a solid sweat gets us offline, sharpens our focus and gives us the confidence and energy to smash some serious life goals. Tell us about your current targets (career, life or otherwise).

I am a Speech Pathologist and also have a Business Management degree majoring in Marketing and International Business. I worked as a Speech Pathologist for 2 years before I decided to do what I love and not what I thought I was meant to do.

In 2016, I entered the modelling world. I have since signed with Chadwick Models and am a Miss Universe Australia NSW State Finalist for 2018.

As I have Coeliac Disease, I run an Instagram account called the @glutenfreebucketlist to raise awareness for this auto-immune condition. This year my goal is to turn the @glutenfreebucketlist into an online platform. Call me crazy, but I have also just created @alliedhealthconnection.

Side note! If you’re an Allied Health professional please contact me, I would love to feature you in my upcoming project.

The daily workout. AM, PM or somewhere in between?

I love to workout in the morning. I am a morning person and a HIIT session, run or pilates puts me in the best mood for the rest of the day.

Your #LifeInBag breakfast of champions looks like …

I am such a creature of habit. I have had the same breakfast for as long as I can remember. I love to have gluten free Weetbix, chopped banana, honey, cinnamon and milk for breakfast. My morning isn’t complete without an English Breakfast cup of tea! On the weekend I will treat myself to bacon and eggs (with avocado and haloumi, always!) at a local café.

Canned tuna for lunch on the go. Legendary, or LEAVE IT BEHIND?

Canned Tuna is my favourite for lunch. Although it’s a little bit smelly, it is so filling and so convenient.

Seriously smart, understated, Scandi-style design gets our wings flapping. What destination, space or event has recently inspired you?

I recently spent 6 weeks in Africa. I travelled to South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Uganda. This holiday was so incredibly inspiring. The local African people reminded me that material things do not matter and how important it is to be thankful for being healthy, happy and alive.

Any amazing products, brands or things you’re loving because they ‘ease the load’, minimised tailspins or saved you from ye old form-function compromise?

At the moment I am loving Canva. It is a free graphic-design website which has helped me create content for my Instagram and Website.
