Your #LifeInBag flat lay exposé. In 1 sentence, please explain. 

Sums up my daily life pretty well: exercise, work and coffee – the only thing missing are baby wipes!

 

 

 

Sparro is a testament to high flying females known for their love and dedication to work, and working out. But also…to the one who may have been known to arrive at the gym with her top on inside-out (or backwards – sometimes both). Sound familiar?

I can totally relate! I love my sleep so I'll set my alarm only about 10 minutes before I need to leave the house for my yoga class. A sense of urgency usually helps to get me out of bed on those early mornings, but it can usually result in me looking like a complete mess.

But for me, the issue is usually on the work attire side of things. I always seem to forget something. I have forgotten my heels and had to rock the Jerry Seinfeld “sneans” look (sneakers + jeans), forgotten my bra and have had to wear my sweaty sports bra all day and even forgotten my work shirt and needed to wear my exercise t-shirt all day. You name it, I’ve had to improvise! It’s always a good excuse for a trip to David Jones though. 😊 

 

We love working out for many reasons, but mostly because a solid sweat gets us offline, sharpens our focus and gives us the confidence and energy to smash some serious life goals. Tell us about your current targets (career, life or otherwise).

Yellow Willow is going global! That’s the key focus for me at the moment. We have just launched in the USA and there are some huge potential opportunities from our initial launch which is super exciting for me at the moment. It’s such a huge market and it will really take Yellow Willow to the next level.

 

The daily workout. AM, PM or somewhere in between?

I’m juggling running my own business with being a mum, so life is unpredictable. I am not a routine kind of person when it comes to working out as I find I put too much pressure on myself if I don’t make it to a class. So, I set myself a weekly goal of a certain number of classes or workouts, and then work around my schedule to make it happen. At the end of the day, you want to enjoy working out and not always squeeze it in and feel compelled to go when you are low on energy. Go when you feel you’ll get the most out of it.

 

 

Your #LifeInBag breakfast of champions looks like …

It changes all the time and is usually dictated by my one-year old and what phase she is in because we eat breakfast together. Current faves for Olive and I are avo on toast and raspberry and honey porridge. 

 

Canned tuna for lunch on the go. Legendary, or LEAVE IT BEHIND?

LEAVE! It's healthy, but no fun for you or the people around you.


Seriously smart, understated, Scandi-style design gets our wings flapping. What destination, space or event has recently inspired you?

I’m going to have to say the new Humming Puppy Sydney Studio (Redfern). It's minimalist in style and design, which really helps you zen out and stay focussed during your practice. While they are minimalist in design, they provide everything you need. One of their mottos is ‘travel light and leave feeling even lighter’, so they provide you with everything you need – mats, blocks, straps, bolsters… but more importantly, everything you need to get the sweat off - shampoo, conditioner, body wash, towels and even shower caps and hair dryers. It’s perfect for those classes on the go and it means I can focus on making sure I don’t forget any of my work attire! 

 

Any amazing products, brands or things you’re loving because they ‘ease the load’, minimised tailspins or saved you from ye old form-function compromise?

Simple words of wisdom to other Sparro fans looking to mirror your success?

Don’t try and do everything! Any founder would know the dilemma: you spend hours on the small admin stuff, not leaving much time for the bigger strategic things, but you feel like you can’t afford to outsource. I realised I was spending so long teaching myself new things in areas where I wasn’t strong, that I had no time to take my business to the next level. Outsourcing the right things and letting go has been great for business but it’s something that I needed to learn to do.
